Off-grid camping in Fort Carlton Provincial Park

Held by the land, warmed by fire, guided by the stars.

Canvas, poles, and rope make up a tipi — but these cone-shaped shelters are more than the sum of their parts. In spring and summer, sleep close to the land and experience Indigenous hospitality in our North Pasture Tipis or in our tipi village at Fort Carlton Provincial Historic Park.

How many people can each tipi sleep?

For comfort, we recommend 2–4 guests per tipi, though there is space for more. Each tipi includes cots for four guests, with additional sleeping arrangements available upon request. You’re also welcome to bring your own air mattress if that suits your stay.

What washrooms facilties are available?

We offer a shared shower lodge serving both our Signature Lodges and tipi village. The building features two private shower stalls—one on each end—each equipped with a toilet, sink, and stand-up shower. We provide hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, towels, and toilet paper. The lodge is located approximately 100 feet from the tipi village.

Is Wi-Fi included?

Wi-Fi is available on site; however, it is primarily intended to service our premium Signature Lodges. Tipi village guests may access Wi-Fi near the shower facility if needed, and the password can be provided upon request. There is regular cell-service in the park and so personal phone data will also function.

Are you pet frendly?

We love pets, and they are welcome in our tipi village accommodations. We kindly ask that you clean up after your furry companions and keep them leashed during park hours (9 AM – 5 PM, Wednesday–Sunday). Outside of these hours, they are welcome to roam freely.

We hosted our workshop there during the week. The accommodations were very comfortable and spacious i was surprised. The firepit location was a plus for us to relax and enjoy ourselves after the days workshops. We were spoiled with a evening outdoor movie. The rustic and quiet environment was a plus for our group. We will be returning again in a few weeks.

Pemiska Tourism is a beautiful, calming environment that feels like a true escape from the daily grind. The moment you arrive, the noise of everyday life seems to fall away. The land, the water, and the quiet surroundings create the perfect space to relax, unwind, and reconnect with yourself. It’s the kind of place where time slows down in the best way, and you’re reminded of how good it feels to simply breathe.

Our family stayed overnight in one of their little cabins at Fort Carlton mid-March. Our kids loved the attic space which was accessible by latter. The design is beautiful and functional. Our room was well stocked with snacks and sodas. The bbq on the deck worked well for supper prep, even on a fairly cold night. Our family enjoys hiking, so we walked down to the river and around the park a few times during our stay. The cabin also had a set of snow shoes which I made sure to use on some deep snow exploration as well. The price was reasonable. We will be back! Colin Alexander was a joy to deal with and always answered our questions before and during our stay promptly and with palpable joy and warmth.

I spent a wonderful night at the Pemiska lodge this October and I loved it! The cabin is so cozy, the drive to the park is lovely and it was peaceful and quiet under that beautiful starry sky! It’s not too far from the city but also out in the middle of nowhere, I was pleasantly surprised how tranquil this place is, a hidden gem of Saskatchewan! Comfy cabins, gracious hosts, interesting history and restful atmosphere. Definitely recommend coming here. There are great trails as well, this is a great place to explore and enjoy nature and open skies. Loved it! Each cabin is like a mini hotel, has great beds, mini kitchen, drinks/food, tv, wifi, toilet and great view (woke up next to a beautiful sunrise and geese flying over in the sky! ) there is a separate shower cabin with a full modern shower, totally love that! And a fire pit surrounded by tipis for that step back in time. Lots of good parking and good roads, easy to find as well. Was romantic and restful stay, thank you!

We loved the lodges and the whole experience! We came with our family visiting from Latin America, and everything exceeded our expectations. The lodges are cozy and comfortable — you can even enjoy a movie night together as a family. You don’t need to pack much, since there’s a burner and an outdoor grill available. We especially enjoyed the Charcute-Cree board, which was fresh and authentic. The showers are absolutely dreamy, and we appreciated the toiletries from an Indigenous-owned business — such a thoughtful touch. The only thing I regret is not booking one of their special experiences, but we were pampered with a movie night and popcorn by the fire, which made the stay truly magical. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing and culturally rich getaway!

We had a wonderful, cozy stay! We were here for their spooky Halloween night, which included a stay in one of their beautiful lodges, snacks, and an outdoor screening of Beetlejuice! They were very communicative leading up to our stay, and even accommodated getting us vegan snacks! The movie was a blast, the popcorn was delicious, and the roaring fire and coyotes in the distance made it a perfect night. Lodge is so comfortable, warm, and cozy. The bedding is much fluffier and nicer than what I even have at home 🙂. 10/10 recommend. Will absolutely be back!

We had such an incredible stay here – so relaxing, had everything we needed, and my partner saw the northern lights for the first time so he was delighted!! The charcuter-cree board was SO DELICIOUS and had so much stuff. Everything was comfortable and lovely. One warning to possible visitors, be smarter than we were the first night there and don’t leave the lights on when going in and out at night or there will be LOTS of insects, but that’s our own fault for being WAY too much of city-dwellers!

I wanted to share how much I enjoyed my recent stay. The experience was truly relaxing—from the quiet decks designed for maximum comfort to the peaceful trails and unique features like the teepee and fort walls, everything felt thoughtfully planned. The room was spotless, the bedding warm and inviting, and the shower excellent. I especially appreciated the complimentary offers, which added an extra touch of hospitality. Management was professional, accommodating, and made sure everything went smoothly. It was clear that guest comfort is a top priority here. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I look forward to returning!

Enjoyed a short getaway from the city since it’s such a short drive from Saskatoon. The lodge cabins are perfectly equipped for a night of luxury in the wilderness. We enjoyed the views of the fort and tipis and walking down to watch the river peacefully go by.

Spent two nights at pemiska with my boys. The lodges were perfect for us, very comfortable beds, great deck and bbq to enjoy the view and outdoor meals. Bannock on a stick was very enjoyable for everyone. Staff was helpful and friendly. Being on the same grounds as Fort Carlton is a perfect setting. Lots of open space and short trails for young children. Evenings on the deck were so peaceful, under the stars with the coyotes. We’ll definitely be back!

We took a family canoe tour with Pêmiska and had a fantastic time. The guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and organized. We enjoyed a delicious shore lunch and learned about the local history and culture. The scenery was beautiful, and the pace was just right. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable outdoor experience.

We had a fantastic experience with our 1 night stay. The accommodation was amazing, everything we needed and so much more. The little extras like stocked fridge, snacks and a selection of keurig pods was not expected. Watching the sunset over Fort Carlton as we sat around the gas fire pit on our deck was unforgettable. The bed, the Smart TV, the bathrooms and shower facilities were excellent. The staffs service was exceptional. They even helped us stage our vehicle for the 3 hour, 11 km paddle down the North Saskatchewan, which was one of the best river paddles we’ve ever had. We can’t wait to come back. Truly one of Saskatchewan’s best kept secrets.

This was our third time staying in the beautiful Pemiska Lodges. We decided to book this stay to coincide with Trade Days at Fort Carlton. It was such a great decision. The collaboration between Pemiska Tourism and Sask Parks just added even more to the wonderful experience we have each time we stay at the lodges. We brought two of our grandchildren along and they absolutely love staying here( it was their second time). In fact, they were upset with us for coming on our own, the last time we stayed. The addition of Mother Earth Essentials products in the cabins and shower lodge is fantastic! Even though the lodges are equipped with modern amenities( internet, etc), we usually choose to unplug most of our time here. Our grandchildren seem to appreciate that too. Every time we stay, we are treated to the absolute peace and tranquility of this special place. It is why we return as often as we are able. Pemiska Lodges is a beautiful destination. I encourage people to, as the name says, “Come and find it”

Sheet metal on deck is not protected, I can see someone in Bare feet slicing there toes Bed is to high , could be six inches lower for handi cap customers. Place is clean and well maintained I highly recommend. I know I will be staying there more when I go visit back home. It’s quite and peaceful.
